Mary Ann Murphy, 85, left us for her Lord and Savior Monday, September 7, 2015 after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gertrude Butler and her husband, Charles David Murphy, Sr. She is survived by sons David Murphy (Lynn) and Marty Murphy (Donna), their children Lesley (Shaun) Self and Charlie (Kerrily) Murphy, and Cooper Murphy, respectively, and three great-grandchildren - all of Birmingham.

Mary Ann taught school for many years at Powell Elementary where she touched the lives of many boys and girls that went through her 2nd and 4th grade classes. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and First United Methodist of Florence. As a devout member of the Ferguson Sunday School Class at First Methodist, she had many friends over the years.

A casual and brief graveside service will be at 12:00 noon Friday, September 11, 2015, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens with Elkins Funeral Home assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Florence.
