Mary Rice Clingan age 93 of Florence, passed away on November 07, 2011 in Cloudland, GA. Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, from 9:30am -11am at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will be at 11am in the Chapel with Pastor Robert M. Clingan Jr. (Bobby) officiating and with E.M. Shell assisting. Burial will be at Walston Cemetery, Oakland She was born in Florence, Alabama on November 15, 1917. She was a graduate of Central High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ Chapel. She attended Lairmore Business College and was a bookkeeper at Lauderdale County Cooperative and retired as a clerk from Lauderdale County Court House. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Clingan Sr., stepdaughter, Frances Pickford, mother Mary Frances Rice, father John R. Rice, brother Winston Rice, four sisters Elsie Rice, Elizabeth Call, Myrtle Moore and Erline Rice. She is survived by two sons, William M. Clingan Jr. (Patricia) and Robert M. Clingan (Teresa). Five grandchildren, Crystal Watts, Bobby Clingan, Kimberly Bernard, Tracie May and Michelle Byrd. Eleven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a sister, Alma Ruth Rice. Pallbearers are John Byrd, Jason May, Joshua Bernard, Jason Watts, Gene Call, and Tommy Bragwell. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to "Bibles for Russia", "Restoration Ranch" or a charity of your choice.
