Funeral service for Mary Alice Porter, 66, of Mount Hope will be Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with Bro. Ray McWhorter officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Porter who died Saturday, April 5, 2014, was born on August 20, 1947, in Lawrence Couty to Lonnie Roden and Geneva Nelson Roden. She was a member of Mount Hope Church of Christ. Mrs. Porter worked as a respiratory therapist at Lawrence Medical Center and was an insurance agent with Mutual Savings.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Porter; two sons, Darryl Gaddy (Rose) and Donnie Gaddy (Lisa); two stepsons, Gary Porter (Dana) and Kenny Porter; two stepdaughters, Carrier Ann Thrasher (Coy) and Amy McGuire (Chris); 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Wilkins, Judy Short (Jim) and Jenny Jones (Joel).
