Maureen Henning passed away Saturday, April 9. Maureen was born in Des Moines, Iowa September 20, 1932. Her parents Gale and Bea McMillen preceded her in death, as well as a brother Voyne McMillen, sisters Neoma Marohn, Nadine Roche, Marcia Darland, Shirley Buck, and her son Kurt. She was captain of the girl''s golf team at North High School in Des Moines and on the high school water ballet aerobics team. She married Bob in an Airborne Ranger Chapel in Ft. Benning, Georgia in August 1951. She loved golf, gardening and entertaining. She was a member of Beta Sigma social sorority in Florence, president of the ladies golf association at the Moorings Country Club in Naples, Florida as well as the ladies golf association at Turtle Point. She was a youth director for eight years at Community Presbyterian Church, Clarendon Hills, Illinois.
Maureen worked in real estate for Service Realty, was a hostess at Kings Inn Motel and secretary for Joe Archer at Alabama Maintenance for a number of years in Florence. Later she was advertising manager for the Hinsdale newspaper for sixteen years in Hinsdale, Illinois. She also worked in sales at several dress shops in Naples, Florida. Recently she has been a resident of Green Oaks Inn and Glenwood Center in Florence.
She is survived by husband Bob, daughter Candace Lewis (Mike), grandchildren Taylor Lewis, Lindsey Lewis, Ryan Gibson (Jessica), three great grand children Sierra, Jacob and Colton Gibson. She will be dearly missed by husband Bob of 65 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Florence with the Rev. Brandon E. Miles officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. in the church library.
