Funeral for Mavis Ilean Bates, 81, of Decatur will be Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rich Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bates, who died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Summerford Nursing Home, was born August 15, 1928, in Winston County to Oscar and Elsie Legg. She was a member of Community South Church of God.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, W.H. Bates; one son, David Bates; two daughters, Veronica Bates and Kim Rossi; two brothers, Wayne Legg and Charles Legg; six sisters, Marie Garrett, Magratha Andrews, Beatrice Greene, Faye Legg, Linda Parker and Jean Clay; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Summerford Nursing Home for all their care and loving kindness.
