Michael Ray "Mike" Klooster Sr., also known as "Sarge", passed away on May 9th, 2023, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Mike was born on October 7th, 1954, in Wheatland, Wyoming to Betty and Theodore "Ted" Maston. He grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1972.
After high school, Mike enlisted in the US Army and served in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky from 1974 to 1977. He was a proud veteran who loved his country and the military.
Over his lifetime, Mike worked in several professions, including glass glaizer and transport driver. He was a hard worker who took pride in his work and was respected by his colleagues. Mike was a man of many passions and talents. He was a skilled craftsman who built furniture that his family continues to treasure. He loved to fish and gamble, especially poker.
Mike was a family man who is survived by his mother, Betty Jenkins; his wife, Yvette Klooster; his five sons, Jason Klooster, Brian Klooster, Austin (Angel) Klooster, Michael (Bethany) Klooster, Jeffrey (Ciara) Klooster; his five siblings, Colleen "Coke" Sharp, Don Maston, Orville Klooster, Kimberly "Kim" Allbright Klooster, Dawn Otteren; his seven grandchildren, Melaney Smith, Peyton Klooster, Jaydon Klooster, Shanna Henrickson, Logan Klooster, Lily Klooster, Libby Klooster; his three great grandchildren, Kellan Smith, Dawson Smith, and Levi Klooster; other relatives and friends.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023 at 11:00am from the Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday at 10:00am until service time. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Amedisys Hospice Decatur or Decatur Animal Shelter.
