Miriam H. Lawson, 95, of Florence passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Glenwood Healthcare. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Florence City Cemetery.

Miriam was a longtime member of the Florence First Baptist Church since 1938 and she practiced accounting for 67 years in Florence.

Survivors include her son, Sims Lawson, Jr. of Birmingham; stepdaughter, Elizabeth L. Drabkin of Washington DC; sister, Iva Moison of Apple Valley, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sims Lawson; stepson, Dr. Thomas Lawson; granddaughter, Sharon Thomas; and great-grandson, Josh Thomas.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help with Breast Cancer Awareness.
