Mirian Blair Burkard, 82, of Decatur died Wednesday, April 22, 2009. She was a beloved and cherished sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Burkard; son, Frankie Joe Burkard; sisters, Elsie Tucker and Oma Tillman; and brothers, Minyard, Winfred and Truman Blair. Surviving are her sisters, Marie Bray, Gloria Yeager and Faye Arndt; daughters, Carmen Boles Smith, Brenda Sandwell and Sonia Kitchens; grandson, Jerry Boles; granddaughters, Rachel Burkard, Carla Hovis, Megan Kitchens, Amber Tho-mas and Desiree' Sandwell; great-grandsons, Austin Griffith and Kayden Kitchens; and great-granddaughters, Kylie Hovis and Kaylee Kitchens. Visitation for family members will be Saturday, April 25, 2009, from noon to 1 p.m. Visitation for friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. Craig Carlisle from Gadsden officiating. Burial will follow in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
