Elizabeth Irwin Funeral for Nancy Elizabeth Griffin Irwin, 88, of Moulton will be Thursday, April 24, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Moulton Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Shelton and Bro. Neil Carter officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30PM until 2:00 at the church. Mrs. Irwin, who died April 22, 2008, was born May 15, 1919 in Falkville to William Graham Griffin and Harriet Jane Irwin Griffin. Her husband, Dr. Willard Weston Irwin, preceded her in death. After graduating from the University of Montevallo, Mrs. Irwin received her masters in Public Health and Nutrition from the University of Tennessee. She then did an internship with the State Health Department of South Carolina and worked for several years with the Georgia State Health Department. Mrs. Irwin was a member of Moulton Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for years. Survivors include one son, Price Weston (Wes) Irwin of Moulton; one daughter, Nancy Elizabeth (Ibby) Coffey and husband, Dr. Charles D. Coffey of Moulton; two grandchildren, Clay Weston Coffey and his wife, Kellie of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Virginia Elizabeth (Virginia Beth) Coffey of Moulton; one niece, Virginia Proctor Johnson; five nephews, Richard Irwin (Rip) Proctor, Dr. Sam Pruett, Jr., James Graham (Jimmie) Pruett, Bennie Griffin and Billy Griffin. Pallbearers will be R. B. Abbott, Martin Carraway, William Dutton, Ronnie Naylor, Ricky Newton and Brent White. Honorary pallbearers will be David Carraway, Billy Parker and Oliver Lewis In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Lawrence County Historical Commission or Moulton Baptist Church.
