Ruth Barnett, a former resident of Florence, passed to her eternal reward on October 24, 2018, at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Cumming, Georgia.

Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, October 28 at Elkins Funeral Home on Hermitage Drive in Florence.  The funeral service will be at 12 noon on Monday, October 29 in the Elkins chapel.  Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Garden.

Ruth was baptized at Mt. Zion Church of Christ and was a longtime member of Eastwood Church of Christ.  She loved God and her family and was devoted to both.

Ms. Barnett was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Skipworth; her sons, Mickey Barnett and John Barnett; her parents, Early and Mattie Whitten and James and Essie Rae Hale; and brothers, Leon, Carl, Jimmy, John and Sam Hale, and sisters Louise South, Lorena Gann, and Colista Lee.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Garner of Florence, and Charlene McDaniel (Marlin) of Braselton, Georgia; daughter-in-law Bonnie Barnett of Dawsonville, Georgia; sister Betty Broughton; grandsons Bryan Garner, Shane and Jay Skipworth, Richard, Justin, Kenyon and Drew Barnett, and Mark McDaniel; granddaughters Kaitlyn McDaniel Hauer, and Meghan McDaniel; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.  Nephews will be honorary pallbearers.
