Our precious Nina Ruth Abramson Austin, 102 years of age, of Cloverdale, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 16, 2018.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 10-12:00 p.m. at Christ Chapel in Florence.  A celebration service will follow at 12:00 with Doc Shell and Bill Siegel officiating.  Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Elkins Funeral Home of Florence is assisting the family.

Ruth was the youngest of 20 children born to Isaac and Josephine Abramson.  She deeply loved her family and her Finnish heritage.  Both of her parents died during her childhood leaving her to be raised by her siblings whom she adored.  Ruth loved to speak the Finnish language.

She was preceded in death by all 19 of her siblings as well as husband, Douglas Austin and grandson, Chris Austin.

Ruth was known by all in the Cloverdale community as an angel of mercy.  She was at her finest when tending to the sick or baking apple pies to take to a shut in.  If not that, she was working in her flowers or the garden.  In her 70's she went on mission trips to Haiti, Mexico and what is now the Ukraine.  She smuggled Bibles across the communist borders.  She was bursting with energy, fun and mischief.  She had compassion for the outcast and the down and out.  She was a shining light for Jesus everywhere she went.

Ruth is survived by her children, Shelba Adomyetz and Paul Austin (Candy); grandchildren, Cindy Wright, Bobby Austin, Tim Adomyetz, Mike Austin, and Greg Austin, three great-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Mitchell Hollingsworth for their excellent care over the past four years.  She was well loved by all of the staff there.  We would also like to thank Dr. Hobbs.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bobby, Mike and Greg Austin, Tim Adomyetz, great grandson, Joey Wright and nephew, Zac Abramson.
