Obituary

Noble George Simpson, 97, of Florence passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am. on Friday at Elkins Funeral Home. His service will follow at 11 a.m. with Ron Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Florence City Cemetery.

Mr. Simpson proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and worked as a Truck Driver. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching both Auburn and Alabama football games.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Norton, and one grandson, Chris Norton (Chaya).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie P. and Mitt Jones Simpson; sisters, Bertha Allen, Mamie Wright, Mattie Dee Barnett, Nettie McCrary, Maudie Simpson, Minnie Hamm, Gracie Shoemaker, Bessie Hill, Lena Thigpen, Eula Mae Proffitt; and brothers, Oliver Simpson, Wilburn Simpson, Otis Simpson, and John Dee Simpson.

The family would like to express special thanks to Columbia Cottage and their staff for the love and care shown to him as well as his long-term physician, Dr. John Bartmess.
