Obituary

O.A. "Buddy" Tennimon
Decatur Funeral for O.A. "Buddy" Tennimon, 94, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gary Formby officiating and Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Decatur City Cemetery.

Mr. Tennimon was born on Feb. 5, 1922, in Selma Alabama to the late Thomas Van Tennimon and Lucille Tennimon. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. His wife, Ella Ivey Tennimon preceded him in death.

Mr. Tennimon is survived by his two daughters, Gloria Banks and husband, Pat and Terri Tennimon Handley; three grandsons, two granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Tennimon graduated from Albert G. Parrish High School in Selma in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served until the end of the war, and was honorably discharged in April 1946. To further his education he entered Alabama Polytechnic Institute in June 1946. He graduated in June 1950; with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He came to Decatur in 1950 as an employee of Wolverine Tube until his retirement in 1983.

Mr. Tennimon served as President of Decatur Civitan 1967-1968, and served on the Morgan County Farmer''s Market Board for six years. After retirement he had several part time jobs and enjoyed golf and oil painting. He was so loved by his family and his beloved dog "Bo".

Pallbearers will be Bart Banks, Taylor Banks, Drew Banks, and Corey Riley

Honorary pallbearers will be PMIGA Golfers Charles Moore, Ralph Huff, Benie Taylor, Ken Johnson, Harold Walrond, Marshall Williams, Doug Chandler, Cuff Jones, Scotty Maples, George Godwin, Johnny Sivley, Ron Hope, and the good fellowship Sunday School members at Central United Methodist Church.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request that Donations be made to Hospice of The Valley.
