Obituary

ELGIN — Doris Barringer, 93, of Elgin went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2025.

Doris was born on April 28, 1932, to the late George and Frona Davis in the Elgin community.  She spent her life there raising her family with her husband of 72 years, GE Barringer.

She was such a vibrant, independent lady, full of wisdom and grace. She possessed a wealth of knowledge regarding plants, flowers, gardening, sewing, cooking, and being a farmer's wife. Her home was always a place of comfort, where everyone felt welcomed and deeply loved. Many remember her from her years of making flower arrangements at the Ben Franklin store in Elgin. She enjoyed going to yard sales and finding that special or unique item to add to her collection.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was known by many as "Nana". She was a member of the Elgin United Methodist Church and a 1950 graduate of Lauderdale County High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G E Barringer; parents, George Davis and Frona Butler Davis; brother, Dalton Davis; sister, Audene Davis Williams; and son-in-law, Patrick Ingrum.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth Ingrum, Jean Ann (Randall) Tucker, and Stacy (Eddie) Mason; grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Davis, Nicole (Freddie) McConnell, Daniel  Tucker, Zach (Heather) Ingrum, Ben Ingrum, Molly Mason, Hannah (Dustin) Carroll, and Evan Mason; great-grandchildren, Freddie McConnell, III, Paige Davis, Ellie Tucker, Mallory McConnell, Clay Davis, Katy Tucker, Carter McConnell, Zachary Ingrum, II, Mitchell Ingrum, Sarah Kate Ingrum, Eli Ingrum, Judd Ingrum, and Hazel Ingrum.

The pallbearers will be Daniel Tucker, Zach Ingrum, Ben Ingrum, Evan Mason, Freddie  McConnell, Matthew Davis, and Dustin Carroll.
