Mrs. Fannie Mae Self left this earthly life and met her Savior and Lord face to face on Thursday,
October 24, 2024. Mrs. Self faithfully served her Lord more than 70 years. She was a kind,
gentle, and loving mother who raised her children to love and serve Jesus. She was a prayer
warrior especially for her family, the church, and for the lost.
Funeral for Fannie Mae Self, 89, from Decatur, AL, will be Monday, October 28 th , at 2:30 p.m., at
Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Virgil Crisp and Rev. Scott Sessions
officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 28 th , from
12:30 – 2:30 p.m., at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home.
Fannie Mae Self was born on January 27, 1935, in Black Fork, Arkansas, to George Talmadge
Loflin and Sallie Irene McSpadden Loflin.
Mrs. Self was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Roy Self; her brothers,
Henry Newt Allen, and Paul Craig Allen; sister, Barbara Irving; sons-in-law, Wayne Green and
John Cook, and her great-granddaughter, Destiny Faith.
Mrs. Self is survived by her sons, Tony Self, Dwain Self (Linda), Jonathan Self (Robin); her
daughters, Anita Cook and Rita Green; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great
great-grandchildren; her brothers, Bobby Ray Loflin and Robert Loflin; her sisters, Sharon
Maestas and Linda Miller.
Pallbearers will be Troy Allen, Danny Borden, Jeremy Elrod, Lynn Loflin, Buddy Lovell, Terry
Johnson, Michael Self, and Stephen Self. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Nelms, Richard
Nelms, Tim Nelms, and Tristen Nunnelly.
