Henry Anthony Dussor, born August 23, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025, at the age of 80. Known for his gentle nature, easy smile, and friendly conversations with just about anyone who crossed his path, Henry lived a life marked by kindness, family, service, and simple joys. A devout Catholic, Henry attended church quietly and faithfully throughout his life.

Henry was one of eight children born to Edwin Henry and Lillian Louise Schwankhart Dussor. He was preceded in death by his siblings Edward Dussor Jr., Evelyn Mary Dussor, August Dussor, Joan Margaret Ellison, June Wallace, and John Phillip Dussor, and is survived by his brother, Joseph Dussor, the last living member of his generation.

Raised in New Orleans, Henry grew up surrounded by the culture, music, and unmistakable flavors of the city he loved. Even after moving away, he never lost his New Orleans spirit—especially in the kitchen, where he enjoyed adding "just a little spice" to nearly everything. Whether the family agreed with his definition of "a little spice" remains a lighthearted debate to this day.

Henry married Lacey Mary Slater in 1964. Henry's affection and respect for Lacey never faded, and he spoke warmly of her throughout his life. Together, they raised two sons, John Thomas Dussor and Steven Anthony Dussor, both of whom sadly passed before him. Losing them was the deepest heartbreak of Henry's life, yet he continued forward with quiet strength and a steady, loving heart.

A few years ago, Henry relocated to Rogersville, Alabama, to be closer to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—a decision that brought him some of his happiest and most meaningful days. Surrounded by family, shared meals, and the laughter of little ones, Henry found joy in watching the next generations grow.

Henry is survived by four grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart: Rebecca Clanton (Chris), Eric Dussor (Beth), Alan Dussor (Kirsten), and Ryan Dussor. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Damian Anthony Dussor. Henry was also blessed with a large and lively group of great-grandchildren, each with their own memories of "Paw-Paw Henry": Peyton, Paisley, and Phoenix Clanton; Blakley, Evan, Wyatt, and Tate Dussor; and Connor and Maddox Dussor.

Henry cherished every visit, every hug, and every moment he shared with his family—whether it was a quick hello, a long porch conversation, or one of the children's enthusiastic retellings of the day's adventures. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored him in return.

Known for his friendliness, Henry could strike up a conversation anywhere and make people feel instantly at ease. He had an easygoing way about him, a good sense of humor, and a steady presence that made life feel a little calmer just by having him in the room.

For 40 years, Henry worked as a sheet metal mechanic, a trade he was skilled in and proud of. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he formed lifelong friendships and lived out quiet acts of service. Henry found joy in giving back, including his volunteer work at Saint Joseph's Abbey in Covington, Louisiana, where he helped bake bread for those in need.

Though he has now reunited with Lacey, John, Steven, and Damian, Henry leaves behind a family who will forever remember his gentle heart, his loyalty, and the way he always made space for the people he loved.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 9, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Florian, Alabama, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Elkins Funeral Home, Killen, Alabama.
