Ira Cleveland Jones Jr. born November 30, 1942 to Ira and Dorthy Jones, the oldest of 4 boys, passed away on March 25 th 2022. He spent his youth in Salem, Virginia prior to joining the Airforce. Ira and Joy Jones have celebrated over 50 years of marriage. They followed their dreams that led them from coast to coast and a few places in-between. Ira was a devoted family man and a person who loved being around family and friends and his fur babies. He could always find time to strike up a conversation with anyone, even a stranger. His passion for fishing never went away, and he was always looking for the next opportunity to cast a line in the water. He treasured spending time with his kids and grandkids, excited to share his passion for fishing and watching them catch their first fish.

Ira, a practicing Christian, renewed his love for the lord after suffering a massive heart attack in 1998. Ira was not responsive for over 7 minutes before being resuscitated. He was given an implanted defibrillator that would help him for years to come. He knew then his work here was not completed, and he would be here until he was called home by the Lord. He loved to study the bible, often taking matriculas notes. Over the years Ira would have two additional defibrillators helping him to continue his work.

Along with his wife, Ira was blessed with 2 sons, a daughter, 6 grandkids, and 3 great grandkids.

Ira was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Dorothy Jones, Brothers Frank and Wayne.

Ira is survived by his wife Joy, brother, Donny, daughter Judy, sons, Wesley and Steve, daughter-in-law Jennifer, son-in-law Steve, grandkids Ryan, Devon, Daniel, Hailey, Joshua, Dillian, great grandkids Levi, Cash, and Hunter.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 2 PM at Elkins East Chapel.
