James Stephen (Steve) Marshall of Decatur passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 following a sudden illness.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19th from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM.

Family requests donations in Steve's memory be made to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

Steve was born in Nashville, Tennessee to William M. and Evelyn E. Marshall. He grew up in Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School in 1977. He lived in Birmingham and Atlanta before returning to Decatur. He worked for companies including Lucky Goldstar, Universal Lighting, and Northrop Grumman, and retired in 2022 after 18 years due to disability. Steve is survived by his sister Maxine Clemons and niece Rebecca Pittman of O'Fallon, Missouri, and by many other family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, crafts, and traveling the world with his best friend Jim Webster of Harvest. He also enjoyed swimming and boating at Smith Lake, and visiting the beach with his family and friends. Steve was regarded as honest, hard-working, and compassionate by his friends and colleagues.

He demonstrated his faith and beliefs through love and kindness. He made a difference in the many lives he touched and will be sorely missed by everyone close to him.
