Mrs. Janice Patterson Rhodes, age 79 of Florence, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 surrounded by her family. Services will be held at Pleasant Hill Church on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Visitation will take place 11am-1pm followed by the service, officiated by Pastor Chris Weldon. Burial will be held at the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.

Janice was born in Lauderdale County. She and her husband, Dwane Rhodes, have been married for 61 years as of June 1, 2024. She was a devoted Christian and member of Pleasant Hill Church. Janice and Dwane enjoyed spending time together camping and riding around admiring God's beautiful creation. For years, she was a wonderful elementary teacher and loved all of her students as her own. Janice was a loving wife, mother, and mawmaw who will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Dwane Rhodes; children, Sam Rhodes (Lisa) and Christy Johnson (Glenn); grandchildren, Kathryn Propst (Jay), Matthew Johnson (Alexa), Tyler Rhodes, Luke Johnson (Lexi), Maegan Wallace (Bradley), and Justin Rice (Allison); great grandchildren, Thomas and Cooper Wallace, Walker Rice, and Lewis Johnson; sisters, Helen Austin and Janie Morris (Eugene).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Cleveland and Izora Dickey Patterson and seven siblings.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Matthew Johnson, Luke Johnson, Tyler Rhodes, Justin Rice, Jay Propst, and Bradley Wallace.
