Mr. Jerry Elmer Hanback, age 69 of Florence, passed away at his home on January 24, 2026 surrounded by his family. Services will be held on Thursday, January 29 at Elkins Funeral Home beginning at 12:30pm. Visitation will be held prior to services and will begin at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow the service at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Hanback crossed over into the arms of Jesus quietly after a very long, extended illness which gradually took away his mobility and withered his strong body. He still could show his love and sense of humor.
Mr. Hanback was a practical joker and loved to make people laugh. He was a hard worker all of his life and dedicated 23 years to working for Gerard Steel. He could be considered a "jack of all trades" as there was nothing that he could not work on or fix.
Mr. Hanback also enjoyed supporting the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Hanback; sons Adam Hanback, and Eric Hanback (Cheyanne); and sister, Diane Dodd (Keith). He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Junior Hanback and Eva Hendon.
