IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Thomas
English
January 31, 1948 – January 23, 2025
Larry Thomas English January 31, 1948 - January 23, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Thomas English, age 76, a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away on January 23, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on January 31, 1948 and he lived a life marked by kindness, service, and a deep love for the Lord and his family. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, a time he often spoke of with great respect and pride. His time in the Navy helped shape his character-one defined by dedication, hard work, and a willingness to help anyone in need.
Larry had a passion for bluegrass music, which brought him comfort and joy throughout his life. He could often be found tinkering in his garage, as he had a remarkable ability to fix anything and everything. His talents were unmatched, and he was always ready to lend a hand to those around him, whether in his family or community. Larry's most defining quality was his strong faith in Jesus Christ. He was a devoted member of Faith Church in Florence, where he faithfully attended and served. His faith guided him in all aspects of his life, and he shared it with those around him, teaching the importance of love, kindness, and service.
Larry was a devoted husband to Sheliah English, his 1st grade sweetheart, with whom he shared 57 years of love and companionship. He was also a brother to Ronald English, an uncle to Drema English and a host of many other nieces and nephews. He was a proud father to his son Darrin English (and daughter-in-law, Gretchen). His grandchildren-Tanner English, Landon English, Kennedi English, Tori Bailey (and spouse Chad), and his great-grandchildren Alivia and Savannah Bailey-were his pride and joy, and he always made time for them, sharing wisdom, laughter, and love.
Larry's legacy is one of generosity, humility, and unwavering support for those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services for Mr. English will be held at the Elkins East Chapel in Killen on Monday, January 27 starting at 2pm. The family will begin receiving friends for visitation at 12pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
