Obituary

Mary Lee (Bevis) Wann of Florence passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31. Mary Lee was born and raised in Florence and while life took her to Vicksburg, MS and New Orleans, she returned to Florence in 1993 to enjoy retirement and be near family. She was an avid tennis player for much of her life, loved the outdoors, gardening and fishing, and cherished her family and many friends. She was a member of the Jackson Heights Church of Christ. Mary Lee spent many years serving the Lord, was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and was always cheerfully willing to help her local community, family, and friends, when needed.  She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Ernest Wann, her son Ernest Wann Jr. and daughter-in-law Teresa Wann, and sister Helen Bevis. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Wann and grandchildren; Kyle and Amber O'Rourke, Ernest Wann III and his wife, Rhiannon Clarke Wann, her brother Leonard (Bill) Bevis Jr. and his wife Carolyn Williams Bevis.

Mary Lee will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a devoted Christian, and true friend. She was a kind person with a good sense of humor. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their loving care of Mary Lee during her last few years. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 2nd at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Meals on Wheels.
