In Loving Memory of Thelma Jean Smith Thelma Jean Saint Smith was born on March 18, 1930. Growing up on a farm during the depression era, Thelma learned many valuable skills that she would continue to use for the rest of her life. She passed away peacefully July 15, 2023. She had a long and productive life. Thelma was surrounded by her family here on earth and will have many people to greet her in heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Smith, and their son, Thomas Wayne Smith. Although her loss weighs heavily upon us, we find solace in knowing that she is now reunited with her loved ones. Thelma's legacy lives on through her daughter, Barbara Peace, of Suwanee, Georgia, Friends and relatives are invited to pay their final respects and share their memories at the Elkins Funeral Home in Florence on July 18 from 10AM – 11:30. Interment will follow at Greenview Memorial Park in Florence, Alabama at noon. Thelma Jean Smith was a remarkable woman, a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and a cherished friend to many. Her kindness, strength, and will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
