Oliver Graham Carter of Matsumoto City, Japan transferred to the heavenly realm on December 18, 2015 at the age of 59 after a courageous battle with cancer. A traditional Japanese memorial service was held in Japan with his family.
He was born November 7, 1956 in San Diego, CA. he grew up in Florence, AL where he attended First United Methodist Church, he graduated from Coffee High School where he had the pleasure of being taught art by his Aunt Dorothy Carter McDonald and Spanish by his Aunt Katherine Carter Yarbrough. He graduated from Pima Community College Tucson, Arizona and University of Arizona.
He enjoyed learning foreign languages and taught conversational English at the University of Matsumoto City in Japan. He was an excellent artist, chef, musician, carpenter and enjoyed spelunking and rappelling. He also loved to do scientific research on the brain and wrote many articles about his research.
He was a kind, gentle loving person who was loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward L. Carter Jr., sister Dorothy Joan Carter.
He is survived by his wife Michiko. Mother Sarah Graham Carter. Daughter Chia Nagai. Sons Kou Nagai, Sho Carter, Timothy Carter, and Nicky Carter. Sisters Edna Carter (Charles) and Mary Young (Donny). Nephew Israel Liles, niece, Whitney Farris and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
