Mrs. Para Lee Carter Davis, 94, longtime resident of Decatur passed away March 27, 2015 in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her 4 children, Dot Tuggle (Charles) of Double Springs, Jim (Lynda) of Houston, Texas, Allen (Jill) of Huntsville, and Faye Christensen of Bozeman, Montana. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren (10 grandchildren spouses), and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (Buck), her parents, Walter and Bessie Carter (Sylacauga, AL), 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and one grandson, Stuart Davis of Nashville, Tennessee.
She was born in Sylacagua, lived in several of cities and moved to Decatur in 1956. She served as a Scout Leader for several Girl Scout Troops and was the Head of the Summer Day Camp program for many years.
Mrs. Davis was a member of First Presbyterian, First Christian, and Austinville United Methodist Churches. As her life changed directions, so did her church families, but they were all very important to her. She was an active member of women''s circles, Sunday School, and activities in the church. She enjoyed family night dinners and helped prepare many meals.
Mrs. Davis was an active member of TOPS Club and quickly reached her KOPS status. She served as an officer in the Decatur chapter for many years. She worked in food services for the school system and was the Cafeteria Manager at several schools.
She and Mr. Davis loved to travel and considered a trip to The Holy Land one of their highest achievements. She was an avid crafter and loved to sew and quilt.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, April 7 from 11:00 to 12:00 in the chapel at Ridout Brown Funeral Home. Following visitation there will be a service in the chapel beginning at 12:00.
