Funeral service for Dr. Paul H. Gilliam, 85, of Huntsville will be Friday, January 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Pastor John Ryberg officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Dr. Gilliam, who died Sunday, January 8, 2012, was born January 27, 1926, in Decatur to Roy and Lula Mae Gilliam. After serving in the United States Navy in World War II, Paul came home and went to Davenport, Iowa, to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. It was here he married his wife, Jewel Hamilton Gilliam, and pursued his dreams of becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1949. He initially practiced Chiropractic in Decatur moving to Huntsville in 1963. He continued to practice Chiropractic in Huntsville until he retired approximately 20 years ago. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively through the United States and Canada in their RV. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Jewel H. Gilliam.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Paula Gilliam Price and husband, Michael Price; son, Dr. Howard L. Gilliam and wife, Dr. Debra Gilliam; daughter, Lesia Gilliam Rippy and husband, Dr. B. Dwayne Rippy; granddaughter,
Candace Rippy, and grandsons, Matthew Price, Chad Gilliam, Scott Gilliam, Alex Price, Todd Gilliam, Jake Rippy and Blake Gilliam.
