Funeral for Paul U. Smith, 89, of Moulton will be Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's BrownService Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Carlisle officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Smith, who died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at his residence, was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Lawrence County. He was a member of Central Park Baptist Church for 60 years. He was a Purple Heart World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. His wife of 59 years, Mildred Smith, preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Ron Smith and his wife, Lynne, of Moulton and Randy Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, William Smith and his wife, Lois, of Athens; two sisters-in-law, Edna Smith of Courtland and Peggy Harrison and her husband, J.P., of Hatton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Jason Smith, Jimmy Smith, Steve Harrison, Terry Jones and Jeff Truitt. The family wants to thank Mr. Smith's caregivers, Norene Pearson, Francis Kelly and Mary Roberts.
