Funeral service for Pauline Blankenship, 92, of Decatur will be Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Ridout''s Brown-Service Chapel with the Rev. David Lowery and the Rev. Hugh Bohlin officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Blankenship, "Granny," who died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Decatur Health and Rehab, was born Nov. 13, 1917, in Cullman County to James and Nellie Rhodes. She was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of Decatur. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and her late husband, R.J. "Happy" Blankenship, owned and operated several businesses in Decatur over the years, including the Happy Way Cafe and the All States Court. She was preceded in death by her husband, Romen Julius Blankenship; her parents; and four brothers, Clarence, Elvie, Lester and Euel Rhodes. She is survived by five sons, Dale (Carolyn) of La Grange, Ga., Don (Margaret) of Durant, Okla., Wiley (Marteen) of Decatur, Joe (Lura) of McDonough, Ga., and Paul (Charlene) Blankenship of Hollywood; three daughters, Shirley Rose, Nell Roberts (Charles) and Wanda Cagle (Bruce), all of Decatur; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild. Pallbearers will be David Blankenship, Joseph Blankenship, Ben Blankenship, Bruce "Buster" Cagle, Michael Cagle and Bobby Doyle. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Decatur Health and Rehab, Hospice of the Valley and Community Action for their kind care and support.
