Funeral service for Jessie Pauline Camp Yates, 94, of Decatur will be Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Stephenson Chapel with Reverend Roger Jenkins officiating and Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. in the Heritage Room at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Yates, who passed away Sunday, May 18th at Summerford Nursing Home, Falkville, was born June 17, 1919, in Phil Campbell to Lurlie Clayton Camp and Julia Francis Camp. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marlin Watson Camp (Charlene) and Lamar Frank Camp (Betty) and husband of 66 years, Doyle Marshall Yates.

She is survived by her son, Doyce Lamar Yates (Rhonda); two granddaughters, Laura Beth Yates Joseph (T.J.) of Helena and Anna Lee Yates Lovell (Matt) of Madison; and two great- grandchildren, Anna Katherine Joseph and Johnathan Marshall Joseph.

Mrs. Yates was well known for her love of flowers, especially azaleas and gardening in her yard. She was an elementary school teacher for six years in Cullman County. The balance of her life was spent being a homemaker and serving others. She was a past member and Sunday school teacher at Southside Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Her grandchildren had her constant attention and support whether it was piano and choral recitals or softball and basketball games. She will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife, Christian mother, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved all her family dearly.

Pallbearers will be Larry Dunlap, Dick Blackmon, Marvin Eaton, Ralph Hamn, Tony Stockton and Robert McAnnally.
