Memorial service for Phillip Lamar Parker, 72, of Decatur will be Sunday, April 11, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Mike Nix officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Parker, who died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital, was born December 29, 1937, in Morgan County to John Grady Parker and Emma Frances Duke Parker. He served his country with two years of service in the U.S. Army. He was a teacher in Morgan and Lawrence Counties, and a member of Beltline Church of Christ. Mr. Parker enjoyed being outdoors, running and music.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mable Parker; one son, Mark Parker and his wife, Katherine; his mother, Emma Duke Parker; one brother, Paul Parker and his wife, Susan; two sisters, Margaret Olmstead and her husband, Clay, and Peggy Sivley and her husband, Milton; three grandchildren, Tommie Tate III, Maya and Markayla Parker; and special friend, Earlene Smiley.
