Phyllis Cobb May, 82, of Florence passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at her residence. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 p.m. on Monday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. with Sonny Owens and Charles Kretzer officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Born on September 11, 1930, Phyllis graduated from Central High School and was baptized at New Hope Church of Christ. She was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ for over 40 years
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Russell May; daughters, Wanda Prestage (Michael) and Kathy Peeden (Greg); grandchildren, Scott Peeden (Susan), Tracy Prestage, and Selena Pearson (Brock); great-grandchildren, Celeste Hobgood (Rice), Osten Leoni, Alexis Compton, Adam Peeden, and Cody Peeden; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benford and Hettie Cobb; sister, Mollie Eulalia Hanback; and brother, James Russell Cobb.
Pallbearers will be James "Junior" Terrell, Frank Terrell, Ralph May, Arthur Putnam, Scott Peeden, and Brock Pearson. Honorary pallbearers are Loyd Hanback, David Fenn, Buddy Terrell, Rice Hobgood, Ronnie May and Bill Broadfoot.
