Pruda Lee Thornton, 93, of Mount Pleasant, Mississippi, entered into the presence of the Lord on November 20, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a member of the Elgin United Methodist Church and Crosspointe Christian Fellowship, 6400 Blocker Street, Olive Branch, Mississippi 38654. After her children were grown she earned her nursing degree and worked as an LPN for 25 years. She was a devoted and loving daughter, wife, mother of 3, grandmother of 7, great-grandmother of 13, and great-great-grandmother of 18. She leaves behind a son, Dennis B. Thornton (Kathy) of Celebration, Florida and a daughter, Jerry Nell Floyd (Donald) of Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband Tonis B. Thornton and a son Luther Sheral Thornton. The family requests memorials be sent to either of her church homes. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10AM at Elkins East Chapel with Douglas Bell officiating. Burial will be at Butler Cemetery.
