Obituary

RANCE M. LAWSON, JR.
Rance Manton Lawson, Jr., 75, Rogersville, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 3, 2009.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Elkins East Chapel, with Rev. Chuck Worley and Rev. J. W. Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Lawson attended Lauderdale County High School, and received an associate degree in business at Northwest Shoals Community College. He was a 20-year veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was employed at TVA for 15 years.
He was a member of the USMC Fleet Reserve Association, the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, National Rifle Association, and the VFW. He was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rance M. Lawson, Sr. and Annie Hill Lawson and his brother, Thomas Hill Lawson.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah Barclay Lawson; daughter, Diana L. Henson (Roy), Rogersville; son, Rance M. Lawson III (Michelle), Killen: grandchildren, Cristy Haraway, Shawn Henson, Tristen Lawson; step-grandson, Wesley Stutts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be military personnel. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ezell, Larry Barclay, Doyle Davis, Steve Shelton, Jeff Barclay and Heath Gamble.
The family would like to thank Dr. I. Lyman Mitchell, Jr., Bluewater Hospice and Tracy Miller for the care and compassion that was shown to Rance and his family during his illness.
