Ray Clifton Billingsley, Sr., age 83, Fort Myers, Florida, died August 10, 2009. He was born in Monroe County, Kentucky, the son of the late James Cloyd and Lizzie Bell Bybee Billingsley. Ray was preceded in death by his son, James Roger "Toby" Grisham; brother, Lt. Col. Oren Glen Billingsley and wife, Holda; nephew, Eddie Billingsley; sisters, Lyda June and Hazel Jay Billingsley; and brother-in-law, Walter Pernell Wilkinson. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Tenth Armored Division, Third Army and Seventh Army in two campaigns, Rhineland and Central Europe, from Trier, Germany, to Larmoose, Austria. He retired from the Norfolk Southern Corporation in 1987 with 35 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church, Ft. Myers, FL. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Geraldine Billingsley. He and Gerry enjoyed being together immensely and were fortunate enough to drive through many European countries on several different occasions and especially loved Austria. Ray is also survived by daughters, Pamela Rae Billingsley, Pegram, TN., Janice Renee Chastain, Nashville, TN., and Deana Marie Wade (Keith), Florence, AL; sons, Ray Clifton Billingsley, Jr., Florence, AL., Jeffrey David Billingsley (April), Kingwood, TX., and Michael Dean Grisham (Karen), Mobile, AL., grandchildren, Lori Bethea (Britt), Mobile, AL., Dustin Wade, Corinth, MS., Mollie Wade, Florence, AL., Mason, Kate, and Grant Billingsley, Florence, AL., Bailey, Jackson and Brooks Billingsley, Kingwood, TX.; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Briley Bethea, Mobile, AL.; sister, Exie Mae Wilkinson, Lexington, KY.; nephew, David Wilkinson (Elaine), Lexington, and niece Jeanne Wilkinson Arnold, Greenville, SC. Visitation will be Friday, August 14, at Elkins Funeral Home from 6-8pm. A graveside service will be Saturday, August 15, at 11am at Mimosa Cemetery, Lawrenceburg, TN.
