Obituary

Raymond W. England, 76, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at ECM Hospital.
Raymond was a 1951 graduate of Lauderdale County High School, attended UNA, Tulane University and University of Tennessee. He was a Korean veteran of the U. S. Navy. Raymond retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller. He was a faithful member of Woodlawn Church of Christ and an avid patron of Handyfest.
Mr. England was preceded in death by his parents, William and Katie England, and a brother, Don England.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Martha Holt England, daughters, Natasha Thrasher, and husband (Ed) of Florence, Nina Smith (David) of Mt. Vernon, IL; son, Eric England (Carol) of Kapolei, HI; sister Sue Berry (Fred) Cloverdale; grandchildren, Jeremy Thrasher (Mandy), Brendan Thrasher, Blair Smith, Andrew Smith, Katie Ann Smith, and Morgan-Star England: great-grandchildren, Dylan Thrasher, Brycen Thrasher, and Grace Parke.
Funeral services for Mr. England will be on Monday, July 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Elkins East Chapel Funeral Home. Stan Dean and Matt Heupel will officiate. Burial will follow in Wallace Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Glen Brown, Jeff Butler, Alan Humphries, Bryant Hester, Ken Davis, and Steve Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Davis, Ernest Goad, Larry Gunderman, Bill Howard and Billy Ray Mason.
