Ressie Latty Lovett Carter
Decatur Ressie Latty Lovett Carter went home on May 12, 2015. Waiting to greet her in heaven was her husband, the Reverend Charlie Carter and their children, Carl Wayne and Carol Sue. Mother to Larry Carter (Mia) of Phoenix AZ, Jan (Doyle) Petty of Jackson, AL and Donna (Dan) Olsen of Elgin, IL; seven grandchildren, Tina Flores and Michael Carter of Phoenix, Connie (Butch) Campbell of Cullman, Terrie Petty of Jackson, Scott (Shana) Petty of Jackson, Danna (Tad) Anderson of Sterling, IL, Amanda Olsen of Geneva IL; and four great grandchildren.

After Charlie died in 1984, she traveled, visited her children and spoiled her grandchildren. But her life seemed incomplete. Then in 1992, she married Ben Lovett from Hillsboro. After Ben's death in 1994, she remained a beloved member of their family, Carol Allen (Cecil) of Trinity, Deborah Graham and Ginger Sargent (Brian) both of Hillsboro. Step grandchildren, Rodney Allen (Candy), Lila Sargent and Christopher Sargent and two step great-grandchildren and two step great-great- grandchildren.

She loved her church families at Trinity Baptist and Odena Baptist in Sylacauga. She gave of her many talents by singing in their choirs, working with Awanas and teaching Sunday School.

Services provided by Ridout-Brown, 711 Memorial Drive, Decatur, Al on May 19, 2015. Visitation begins at 12:30pm with services at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or curealz.org, a research foundation for the cure of Alzheimers.
