Obituary

Reynold G. Berry, 85, of Florence passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at ECM Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Larry D. Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.
Mr. Berry served his country in the Air Force during World War II in several European locations. He had lived in Florence since 1946. He was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and a former member of the Florence Lions Club.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Florence where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher and RA Director. He retired from Reynolds Metals Company after 34 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his son Philip W. Berry, parents Hattie and Willie Berry, Haleyville; sisters Wilma Postell, Birmingham, Ivalene Donaldson, Haleyville and brother Clifford Berry, Crestview, Florida.
He is survived by his wife Doris Ruth Berry; son Bryant and grandchildren Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, and Joshua Berry of Florence; sister June Rea, Decatur; brothers Travis Berry of Birmingham, and Ralph Berry and Ray Berry of Haleyville.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hillhouse, Marc Dempsey, Dr. Eddie Joe Brackin, Billy Darby, Tim Ray, and Dr. Harold Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. I. Lyman Mitchell, Dr. Felix Morris, Dr. Lloyd Johnson III, Dr. Robert L. Bailey, Jr. and Dr. R.J. Webb.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
