Richard "Allen" Johns
Decatur Richard "Allen" Johns, 77, of Decatur died Wednesday August 19, 2015. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tony Riley will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Allen was born April 3, 1938 in Morgan County to Albert Lee Johns and Nettie Jane Elrod Johns. He graduated in 1956 from Decatur High School and attended the University of Alabama for three years. He was stationed in Europe while Honorably Serving his Country as a member of the U.S. Army. Allen was employed by the United States Postal Service for 33 years as a letter carrier. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edison Noble Johns, Jimmy Johns and Donald Johns; one sister, Irene Johns Long and two nephews, Harold Johns and Tim Long.

Survivors include one brother, Curtis Wayne Johns and a sister-in-law, Peggy Gilmer Johns; three nephews, David Johns (Sherry), Rodney Long and Eddie Johns (Christy); six nieces, Sheri Johns Herron (Rick), Lauri Johns Burgreen (Ricky), Vicki Johns Fontes (Aaron), Kelly Johns Holsclaw (Kent), Tracy Johns Harris (Ward) and Lisette Johns; several great-nieces and great- nephews and one great- great-niece.

Allen was a loyal Alabama football fan. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed following NASCAR. He was a music Lover. He attended many of these events with his family. One of his passions was planning and driving cross country visiting many locations in the Western United States. He enjoyed painting landscapes, writing poetry, and researching his family genealogy.

Pallbearers will be, Eddie Johns, Cameron Johns, Ricky Burgreen, Jackson Burgreen, Aaron Fontes and Eddie Tiller. Music will be provided by family members.
