Mr. Richard Alfred Lape, 74, of Florence, died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Glenwood Rehabilitation and Convalescent Center.
Mr. Lape was born and lived in Waterloo, New York where he was a member of the International Management Council-Finger Lakes Chapter, and served as President 1972-1973.
He moved to Trumbull, Connecticut with his first wife Lois and two girls. Lois died in 1977. In 1978, he married his present wife, Joyce. In Trumbull, he was a member of the Exchange Club, where he served as President in 1990. In 1994, he became a charter member of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. He was a member of Public Purchasing Association of Connecticut from 1989-1994 and a member of National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM). In 1997, he retired and he and Joyce moved to Florence.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Lape; daughters Penny Fredrick and husband Shane, Shelburne, NH, and Peggy Lape and fianc Eddie Joyce, Derby, CT; step children John Everett and wife Lisa, North Richfield, TX, Colleen Stanley and husband Bill, Danbury, CT, and Kelly Michaud and husband Pierre, East Greenwich, RI; grandchildren, Emily Joyce, Taylor Everett, John Everett, Bill Stanley, Jr., Jack Stanley, Joshua Stanley, Matthew Stanley, Cloe Michaud, Alex Michaud, Julie Fredrick and Lisa Fredrick.
A service and burial will be next week in Trumbull, Connecticut. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family in Florence.
