Robert F. 'Bob' Swinea Decatur
Funeral service for Robert F. "Bob" Swinea, 78, of Decatur will be Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Todd Evans officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Swinea, who died Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at his residence, was born December 1, 1932, in Limestone County to Louis and Christine Swinea. Bob was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for 40 years. He was a funeral director for Peck Funeral Home and joined Ridout's Brown-Service in 1990 where he worked until he retired. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 and served his country proudly. He was also a Mason. His grandson, Matthew Swinea, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Swinea and wife, LaWanda, and Mickey Swinea and wife, Jennifer; one daughter, Cindy Smith and husband, Rickey Joe; two sisters, Lois Malone and Louie Weathers; six grandchildren, Tiffany, Joshua, Joseph, Janna, Sarah and Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren, Reagan Hope and Ava Grace.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
