October 29, 1934 – March 10, 2025
Robert Rodney Prince, age 90 of Rogersville, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 peacefully at his home. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Grace Church of God. The funeral service will follow with Bishop Paul Fox and Bishop Justus Cole officiating. Rodney, also known as "Hot Rod" by his friends, was a native of Rogersville in Lauderdale County, Alabama. He was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School. He was employed by Ford Motor Company until the Sheffield plant closed and then retired from Saginaw Steering, a GM company, in Athens, Alabama.
He adored the companionship of all of his pet dogs, from when he was a young child until he passed away. He loved sports, especially the game of golf. He and many of his friends played in the 60's and 70's at Skypark, and then at Joe Wheeler Golf Course and also at the Anderson Golf Club. It is because of his love for the game that his grandson, Levi Parker, granddaughter, Ashley Elkabetz, and his son-in-law, Danny Springer, began playing, and now his great grandsons play as well.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Prince and Beulah Mae Weathers Prince; his sister, Beulah Glynn Prince Belew, and brother-in-law, Oswald (Bill) Belew.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Prince, his daughters, Alana Prince Springer (Danny), Lisa Prince Brown (Andy), and Brianna Prince Childers (Steve), his stepchildren, Victoria Lee Chaney (Ben) and Veronica Woods (Shane); grandchildren, Chesney Springer Peeples (Ryan), India Raine Springer, Levi Parker, Ashley Connell Elkabetz (Corey), Alexandra Bonabi (Philip), William Ryan McDonald, Collin Childers, Taylor Childers (Scott), and Kameron King; step- grandchildren, Larun and Dalton Sammett, Ory Shane Woods, and Maddie Grace Woods; great-grandchildren, 10 and one on the way; his sister-in-law, Rita Lamar (Doyle), and sister-in-law, Jeanie South (Freddy).
Pallbearers will be Corey Elkabetz, Cyler Parker, Cason Parker, Ryan Peeples, John Connell, Chris LouAllen. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Lamar and Phillip Butler.
