Rolland Norman Boyd, age 85, recently of Smyrna Tennessee, a native of Florence, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010. His family will receive friends 10 am - Noon Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence. A graveside funeral service will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens at 1pm, with his son, Dr. Timothy Boyd officiating. Mr. Boyd was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corp. He retired from Ford Motor Company,Sheffield Plant, in 1983. He attended North Wood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nettie Sue, and sister, Joanne Creekmore.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Timothy Boyd (Evelyn) of Shawnee Kansas; daughter Toni Woodard (Jerry) of Hermitage Tennessee; daughter Doris Mitchell (Fred) of Smyrna Tennessee; grandson Michael Burrows of Nashville Tennessee; sister Jeannine Goode of Muscle Shoals.
