Roma June Crowe Powell, age 85 passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at her residence at Columbia Cottage, from a short battle with cancer. A memorial Service will be held at Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, Florence, on Tuesday, January 14, at 1pm, with Kenny Barfield officiating. Family will accept friends from 12noon till 1pm.

June was born in Dossville, Mississippi, to Ben and Mary Estelle Crowe, in 1928, and moved with her husband, Frank and daughter Holly to Florence in the mid 1970''s.

June was a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ and for 30 years, was the devout, dedicated teacher of the Tuesday morning ladies'' Bible class. She took a very active role in her church, and her church family was very important to her.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Powell, her parents, all of her step brothers and sisters and by her brother Norman Crowe.

She is survived by her three children, Holly Inabinet (George) of Tampa, Florida; Judi Rhodes (Dusty) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Kris Powell of Spokane, Washington; grandson, Christian Inabnit and step grandson, Andrew Rhodes; her sister, Marnece Moore, Koseiusko, Mississippi; as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind friends at Columbia Cottage, her church family, and special friends, Donna Payne and Anne Cutter Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: the American Cancer Society, Hospice of the Shoals or any charity of your choosing.
