Ronald Lee Mitchell, 78, of Killen died Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at his residence.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Killen United Methodist Church from 12-2 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Bro. Bryan McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at Killen City Cemetery. Elkins East Chapel is assisting the family.
Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Willie Tee Mitchell; niece Robin Shelton McCafferty; brother-in-law, Vernon Shelton.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, JoAnn Mitchell; two sons, Troy Mitchell (Tanja) and Joey Mitchell (Valerie); sister, Mary Shelton; brother, Milton Mitchell (Bobbye); five grandchildren, Jeremy Moody, Joshua Moody (Jessica), Dallas Mitchell, Katherine Mitchell, and Steffen Mitchell; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Thompson, Easton Moody, and Haiven Moody; special pet "Lucky".
Mr. Mitchell was retired Insurance agent for 42 years. He was a longtime member of Killen Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow honor award, Charter member of the Killen-Center Star Rescue Unit, longtime member of Brooks High School Athletic Booster Club. He was a member of Killen United Methodist Church, Sunday School Class 10 and The Prime Timers. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies at McDonald''s and Killen Diner.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Killen Lions Club and Sunday School Class 10, and Saturday night dining group.
