Ronald Edward Smith passed away September 16, 2025 at NAMC in Florence. He was born in Florence at Starkey's (ECM at the time).. He was a lifelong member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, an Eagle Scout and member of Order of the Arrow, a 1956 graduate of Coffee High School and attended Florence State Teachers College (UNA). He served 6 years in the Navy and was stationed 2 years at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. Mr. Smith was retired from Occidental Chemical Plant.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, S. B. and Mae Smith; grandparents, Ras Erskine and Ada Mae Smith and Cauley and Maude Carter; sister Peggy Wade and brother Don Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Barbara Holt Smith. Children: Roni Lynne Livingston (Jeff) and Stephen Smith (Paula). Grandchildren: Caroline Heinrich (Adam), John Whitten, Evan Smith (Heather) and Jake Smith (Becca). Great grandchildren: Riley Stansell, Rhett Gooslin, Nora Jane Smith and Abby Smith. Sister: Letha Smith and brother Larry Smith.

Ronnie loved his church, his family and hunting and fishing at Waterloo with his cousin, Dan Weaver, and best friend, Jerry Shaw. Ronnie and Barbara spent many happy times travelling the country with Jerry and Azalia Shaw. Always happiest times were special family times at the camp in Waterloo.

A graveside service will be held at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 19th beginning at 3:30.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, St. Jude's, Waterloo Church of Christ, or Waterloo Free Library.
