Obituary

Ronald E. Warren, age 78, of Florence, passed away on Monday May 5, 2014, at his home after an extended illness. Visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence on Thursday May 8, from noon until 2:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel. Harley Hollingsworth and Billy Warren will officiate. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Ethel Caudle Warren; his brothers, Lorenz and Charles Warren; and his sister, Corinne Warren.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shelby H. Warren; his son, Ronald Terrell "Terry" Warren; and grandsons, Nathan and Sean David Warren. He is also survived by his brother, Billy Warren (Pat); his sister, Sarah Watts (Ed); sisters-in-law, Judy Warren and Jane Hollingsworth; brother-in-law, Joe Hollingsworth (Shirley); and numerous nieces, nephews and his best friend and companion LuLu.

Pallbearers will be Gregg Pounders, Bennett Wilson, Daniel Hollingsworth, Anthony Hollingsworth, Mark Aldridge, Randy Balentine, Nathan Warren and Sean David Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be the Shoals Home Builders Association.

Mr. Warren was a graduate of Coffee High School and attended Florence State College. He was very proud to have served our nation in the United States Marine Corp and Naval Reserve. He was a Director of Compass Bank for 28 years and a longtime member and past president of the Shoals Home Builders Association, while also serving as a member of the Shoals Board of Realtors. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Shoals Home Builders Association and was a Director of the State of Alabama Home Builders Association. He developed numerous residential subdivisions and commercial buildings in North Alabama.

The family would like to thank Dr. Danny McFall, Gentiva Hospice, and his caregivers, Erin Davis, Anna Smith, Pamela Barnett and Jesse Poyner, for their loving care during his illness.
