Mr. Perry passed on to be with his Lord on June 28, 2013, at age 89, at his home in Decatur. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 30, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Torch Cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Donna Faye Terry of Priceville; two grandchildren, Ladonna Terry of Priceville and Stanley Terry of Hartselle; one brother, Milton Perry of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two very close friends, Joe and Reba Thompson of Arab and his best friend Wendall Shankle of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Sara (England) Perry; two sisters, Lena Taylor of Arizona and Mary Hall Wallace of Decatur; and four brothers, Herman Perry of Arizona, Herbert Perry of Texas, Loyal Perry of Birmingham, and Claude Perry of Birmingham.
Mr. Perry was a contractor for many years and loved his work. He enjoyed meeting and visiting people, especially his friends at Jack's. He was a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe, Perry White Principal Chief. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Amedisys Hospice Care.
