Roy M.Sloan, Sr. age 66, died Saturday March 14 at E.C.M. Hospital in Florence. Visiation will be Monday March 16th, 2009 5 pm. until 9 p.m at Elkins Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday March 17th, 2009 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church Tuscumbia, AL.
He was born, raised and remained a resident of Florence. He was a graduate of Rogers High School. Roy served his country and was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran having served on the USS Midway. He was also a retired, beloved brother of the I.B.E.W. Local 558 Sheffield. He served 2 terms with the I.B.E.W. as an executive board member. He would be receiving his Brotherhood Pin for 45 years of service this fall. Roy was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and friend. All who loved and knew him were fortunate to have him touch their lives.

Grandchildren: Heather, Chase, Jake, Rachel,Austin, Brittany, Kyle,Tanner,Tyler, Sam, Zack, Alyssa, Nick, Evan.
