Ruby Meline, 96, of Florence passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Eliza Coffee Memorial. Visitation will be Sunday, November 5th, at the First Baptist Church of Florence in the Atrium from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. The Service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Florence Chapel. Pastor Kevin Johnson will be officiating. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Meline was born in Swain County, NC and came to Florence to work at TVA in lieu of finishing her senior year at Western Carolina (Cullowhee). She dearly loved the city of Florence and its people.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Meline; parents, George and Dixie Higdon ; sisters, Ruth George (twin) and Gladys Ray Jordan; brothers, Roy and Raymond Higdon.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Meline and Susan Hodges (Hal); granddaughters, Brooke Wenth, Megan Kaal (J.P.), Sarah Hodges; great granddaughter Caroline Kaal; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Meline was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Florence and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, she loved working in her yard, for which she received a beautification award from the city of Florence. She worked from 1978 to 2010 on the floor at Sears in retail sales.

Mrs. Meline supported many charities, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children''s Hospital or another favorite charity are respectfully requested.

Pallbearers will be deacons of the church.
