Ruby Holden Scott, age 90, of Elgin, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday April 7, 2010.
Funeral services will be on Sunday April 11, 2010 at 1:30 pm at Elkins East Chapel with burial to follow in Barnett Cemetery. Bro. Audie Bogus will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday April 10, 2010 from 6 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Scott is preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Holden and Houston Scott; her parents, Ben and Etta Butler; her brother, Buford Butler; her sister in law, Pearline Butler; and her grandson, Randy Butler. Mrs. Scott, better known as "Mama Ruby" or "Rudy", loved to talk to everyone and never met a stranger. She loved her friends and family, her flowers, and loved to dance. Mrs. Scott was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Ruby worked for many years in several knitting mills in the area while taking care of her mother, husbands, children, and anyone else who needed help.
Mrs. Scott is survived by her daughters, Merle Beavers (James) and June Smothers (Walter); her sons, Steve Holden (Brenda) and Ricky Holden (Ann); 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Butler, Brent Beavers, Fred Butler, Terry Holden, Jeff Horton, and Randy Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Holden and Gerald Newton.
The children would like to thank all of the first responders, healthcare givers, friends, and family members who have helped take care of Mama Ruby over the years.
